About

What Is Ocular Trauma ?

Ocular trauma refers to any injury to the eye or its surrounding structures, including the eyelids, orbit, and optic nerve. These injuries can result from blunt force, sharp objects, chemical exposure, or thermal burns, potentially leading to vision impairment or permanent blindness if not treated promptly. Ocular trauma is a medical emergency that requires immediate evaluation and appropriate management to preserve vision and prevent complications. Caused by impact from objects like a ball, fist, or accident-related injuries, leading to conditions such as hyphema, retinal detachment, or orbital fractures. Sharp objects, such as knives, glass shards, or metal fragments, can pierce or completely pass through the eye, causing severe structural damage.
